Deputation Days - VBS

We were given the opportunity to be part of a Missions Conference / Vacation Bible School in north Alabama.  We had VBS during the day and Missions Conference in the evenings.  It was exhausting but so much fun!  This was nothing like any VBS I'd ever worked in before; each day there were between 500 and 600 people!

The week followed a Space theme as you can tell.

We got to work with the four-year-old boys; an average of twenty of them per day!   We had a blast and learned a lot (hopefully the kids learned some, too!

Yes, this is one of our four-year-olds!

Of course, everyone loves snack time!

And you can't have a good VBS without a pie in the face.  (No, this is not Omar)

Oh, and biggest lesson learned?  If a four-year-old says that he's got to go bathroom, don't tell him that he just went ten minutes ago and so couldn't possibly need to go; they have ways of making it happen!

Boston's Quincy Market - Deputation Days

Along deputation we had the opportunity visit a church and my cousins near Boston, MA. We enjoyed our time there so much and had a great time visiting downtown Boston!
On Friday night we went to the Quincy Market for supper!

The Quincy Market was built in 1826 to provide additional shopping space as an indoor pavilion for vendor stalls. The massive building was named in honor of Mayor Josiah Quincy, who organized its construction and had it built, amazingly, without any tax or debt! (How politicians were different back then!) src: wikipedia

Today, the market has changed from grocery to gourmet/fast-food stalls. Both sides of the corridor are filled with the best food vendors in Boston! There are so many different choices here - absolutely amazing! I had the clam chowder and it was excellent!

Once you finally decide what you'd like to eat, the center dome of the Market provides an wonderful atmosphere to enjoy your meal!

As, it becomes darker, the beautiful Custom's House Tower stands at nearly 500ft and is viewable throughout the entire area.

Of course, no trip to Boston would be complete without a visit to the Boston Harbor!

We enjoyed our visit to Boston so much!  I would definitely give it a hearty recommendation!

California Family - Deputation Days

Along our deputation I always enjoyed meeting new people and getting to spend time with them.  Often we would stay in the homes of people we had never met, and it would always be neat to fellowship and make long-lasting friendships.

One place we particularly enjoyed staying was with the Breazeale family (pronounced "Brazil") in rural California.  They graciously invited us to stay with them three weeks as we had meetings in churches all around their area.

They have a couple adult sons whom we did not get to meet and then several adopted children who were still at home.  We really enjoyed the entire family.

I really enjoyed photographing their youngest son; he has the most incredible eyes!

Johnathan had so much fun at their house!  It was very rural (actually, their house was in the middle of a huge orange grove) and they have a few farm animals so Johnathan got to play outside quite a bit!

Once again, thank you so much to the Breazeales and all the other wonderful families who were so kind to us along the way!
